Arsenal and Chelsea may have a better chance of qualifying for the next FIFA Club World Cup as new proposals emerge.

Chelsea emerged victorious in the revamped edition of the Club World Cup, which took place in the United States earlier in the summer.

The Blues won the competition after claiming a 3-0 victory over reigning Champions League winners and Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in New Jersey.

Chelsea were not the only representative from thePremier Leagueat the Club World Cup, with Manchester City also in the competition before they lost to Al-Hilal in the last-16 stage.

Next time the Club World Cup is held in 2029, there could be more English teams competing. The Times have reported that there is the possibility that FIFA could allow three Premier League clubs to compete at the next Club World Cup, an increase from the previous two.

However, UEFA would have objections to this change if it meant that there would also be an overall increase in the total number of teams from 32 up to 48. The changes are reportedly being considered after FIFA bosses were concerned that three reigning champions - Liverpool, Barcelona and Napoli - were not involved in the competition.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur will all have goals of competing at the next instalment of the Club World Cup, which would see each club receive significant financial rewards. In order to qualify, though, Spurs, the Gunners and the Blues would need to win the Champions League over the next few years.

All three clubs are competing in this year's Champions League, which automatically gives them a chance of qualifying for the next Club World Cup. It remains to be seen, though, if plans to increase the number of English teams will be agreed to by FIFA and UEFA bosses.
