Nicolas Jackson makes feelings clear on immediate Chelsea reunion after striker blow confirmed

Nicolas Jackson has been speaking about reuniting with Chelsea teammates during his official Bayern Munich unveiling. A switch to the Bundesliga champions had been in place the weekend before the summer window closed, but was in jeopardy after an injury to Liam Delap.

The green light for him to make the move did eventually arrive on deadline day, following a chaotic 48 hours after Chelsea made it clear they would not be proceeding with the loan move. Terms were ultimately renegotiated with a buy-obligation clause included in the transfer.

However, that will only become active through certain conditions being met with Bayern chief Uli Hoeness stating that "definitely" won't end up being the case.

Following his international break with Senegal, Jackson was at the centre of a Bayern press conference on Friday and when asked about those comments from Hoeness, he simply brushed them off.

"Obviously I know he is a big legend for this club," Jackson began. "I have a lot of respect for him. I know him since before. My job is just to play and help the team win games. The number of games isn't my focus. I want to achieve big things with the club."

On joining Bayern, he added: "I was really confident I could stay here. It was the place I wanted to be. I'd spoken beforehand with the coach and the bosses. I'm really happy to be here and training with the team. I know a few players and can hardly wait to start playing."

His first appearance for Bayern could arrive this weekend against Hamburg or just a few days later when his parent club Chelsea take on the Bavarian giants in Champions League action, with Jackson excited to see some players he knows very well.

"We're playing against Chelsea, and lots of friends, on Wednesday," he said. "I'm looking forward to seeing them again and want to win the game."

Enzo Maresca also spoke to reporters on Friday and was asked if he would like to have kept Jackson at the club.

"Nico, for me it's quite easy in terms of, in this moment he's a Bayern Munich player," he admitted. "I've sent him a message, I wish him all the best. Nico, until the day he was here, he was very good, he was working well. So I wish him all the best, and that's the only thing I can say."

The Chelsea boss also confirmed the worst regarding Delap's hamstring issue with the new Chelsea striker set to miss roughly three months. There is also some doubt surrounding Joao Pedro and a few others for the weekend's clash against Brentford.

He, Andrey Santos and Estevao Willian all played for Brazil, in Bolivia, during the early hours of Thursday morning and have therefore returned only recently to Cobham alongside Moises Caicedo after he represented Ecuador.

Cole Palmer could return, though, after missing the last two games having partially trained.
