Nicolas Jackson to Tottenham transfer truth after Chelsea U-Turn and Newcastle United claim

Send Push

Tottenhamare set to battle Newcastle United for Chelseaforward Nicolas Jackson should Richarlison leave this summer, it has been claimed.

Jackson, 24, is up for sale at Stamford Bridge after falling down the pecking order since the end of last season. The Senegal international, who was Chelsea's No.9 for most of the 2024/25 campaign, has since dropped behind to third-choice behind Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.

Delap, a £30million summer addition from Ipswich Town, has impressed following his arrival, while Pedro, who signed in a £50m deal from Brighton, scored against Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup final. Enzo Maresca appears to prefer both Delap and Pedro ahead of Jackson.

That has seen speculation increase regarding Jackson's future, with the ex-Villarreal man said to be considering his future amid his lack of game time after returning from suspension at the Club World Cup.

Meanwhile, Chelsea, who first considered Jackson as NOT for sale, are expected to cash in on the forward and make a considerable profit on the £32m they paid for his services two years ago.

According toThe Telegraph, Jackson is now 'top of the list' for Newcastle United after Benjamin Sesko agreed a deal at Manchester United. But Eddie Howe's side face strong competition from Tottenham.

It's claimed that Spurs are expected to make a move for Jackson should Richarlison depart before the end of the summer. The former Everton forward is subject to interest from Brazilian side Palmeiras.

There is another unnamed Premier League side interested in Jackson, as well as that from AC Milan and Juventus in Italy. Jackson has scored 30 goals in 81 appearances since his move to Chelsea in 2023.

Chelsea are said to look at the benchmarking of deals for Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Viktor Gyokeres and value Jackson, who has eight years left on his contract in west London, at more than £60m.

Tottenham are in the market for attacking reinforcements following Son Heung-min's exit, James Maddison's latest injury blow and Dominic Solanke's absence. Spurs, right now, look light in that area of the pitch.

Mohammed Kudus, Brennan Johnson and Richarlison started Tottenham's pre-season fixture against Bayern Munich on Thursday, with Wilson Odobert and Mathys Tel acting as back-up on the bench.

It's clear that, based on Thomas Frank's available forward options, Spurs require at least one, if not two, signings at the top end of the pitch between now and the Monday, September 1 deadline.

Following Spurs' 4-0 defeat at Bayern, their next fixture is against Paris Saint-Germain in the Super Cup next Wednesday. That is all before the start of the new Premier League season the following weekend.
