Oliver Glasner details Crystal Palace job stance amid Man Utd exit links

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has confirmed that he is in discussions with the club regarding his future, amidst rumours linking him to the Manchester United managerial position. The Austrian has been the subject of speculation about a potential move to Old Trafford as Ruben Amorim continues to face pressure in the North West.

The ex-Eintracht Frankfurt head coach has been mentioned as a possible successor if Amorim is eventually sacked following United's inconsistent start to the season.

It was hinted that Glasner was on the list of potential candidates to take over from Amorim, but the MEN reported earlier this month that the Portuguese still has the board's support, and club insiders maintain that no replacement is being considered.

The current head coach at Old Trafford saw some of the pressure lift after their victory against Sunderland just before the international break.

United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe openly expressed his support for Amorim during the pause for World Cup qualifiers, leading Amorim to respond to the messages ahead of this Sunday's clash with rivals Liverpool.

However, Glasner, who led Crystal Palace to their first-ever major trophy with their FA Cup win in May, has been linked with the top position at the 20-time English top-flight champions.

His own future is under scrutiny as his contract expires at the end of the season, and Glasner has addressed the ongoing situation between him and the Palace hierarchy.

"We are talking almost every day," the 51-year-old Glasner said.

"It is not that I need conditions or I want something, Crystal Palace wants to be successful, to continue this pathway and not just the last 18 months.

"What we are always discussing is how can we have the best chance to continue this pathway?

"Oliver Glasner does not have the final solution and Steve Parish doesn't have (it), but we discuss about it, what is possible, what we can do. Working together and having a relationship together just makes sense if you have the same goals, the same vision, because otherwise you can't be successful.

"Wherever it is, in any company, if two leaders have different visions, then you go separate ways and you can't achieve your goal, and that is what we are talking about.

"If we can find the same pathway, the same goal - not for Oliver Glasner, (but) for Crystal Palace - then we will end the talks, and if we don't find (it) we will also end the talks."

Glasner has guided Palace to sixth in the Premier League, as well as a stint in Europe, but saw their club-record 19-match unbeaten run end at the hands of Everton.
