Bihar Public Service Commission, i.e., BPSC, has once again revised the dates of its 71st Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination. According to the latest notification issued by the Commission, the BPSC 71st Preliminary Examination will now be held on 13 September instead of 10 September. At the same time, the dates of the Assistant Branch Officer Competitive Examination have also changed. This exam was earlier scheduled to be held on 13 September, but now it will be held on 10 September.
The Commission has cited administrative reasons for the change in the exam dates and has requested the candidates to adjust their preparation according to the new date. According to BPSC, the preliminary examination will be an objective type, which will have a general study paper. This question paper will be of 150 marks and its duration will be two hours.
The Commission has received a large number of applications for the BPSC 71st Recruitment Examination. According to the Commission, a total of 4.70 lakh candidates have applied for the preliminary examination. This recruitment drive aims to fill the posts of 1264 officers in various government departments of Bihar.

The main examination for these posts is scheduled on 26 and 27 July 2025. However, the Commission has clarified that these dates may change depending on administrative needs, like the dates of the prelims exam. What is the selection process?
BPSC 71st exam will be conducted in three phases. The first phase includes preliminary examination (objective type), the second phase includes the main examination (descriptive type), and the third phase includes an interview. The preliminary examination will be of 150 marks, in which questions will be asked from general studies, while the main examination will be of a total of 1100 marks. It includes General Hindi (100 marks), General Studies Paper-1 (300 marks), General Studies Paper-2 (300 marks), Essay (300 marks), and Optional Paper (100 marks). At the same time, the interview will be a total of 120 marks. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the main examination and interview.
Officers will be recruited for these services.
Candidates successful in the BPSC 71st exam will be appointed on various administrative posts in Bihar, such as State Administrative Service, Police Service, Finance Service, Supply Inspector, Planning Authority, Commercial Tax Officer, Registration Officer, Transport Officer, Municipal Executive Officer, Education Service, District Coordinator etc.
