Green Crackers: From today, only certified green crackers with a QR code will be sold in Delhi. Scan the code when purchasing to verify its authenticity to avoid pollution and counterfeit crackers.
Green Crackers: Diwali is just two days away. People burst a lot of firecrackers on Diwali. However, these firecrackers pollute Delhi's air. Therefore, there is a high demand for green crackers in Delhi. The sale of green crackers has begun today, Dhanteras. Delhi Government Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa stated that the government has issued licenses to more than 200 dealers.
According to a Supreme Court order, only firecrackers certified by CSIR-NEERI or PESO can be sold. These firecrackers use less polluting chemicals instead of traditional gunpowder. People have been urged to buy only authentic green crackers with QR codes to maintain the joy of the festival and keep the air clean. Meanwhile, many people are also selling fake green crackers. This is how you can tell which ones are real and which are fake.
How to identify authentic green crackers?
Green crackers for Diwali will only be sold from October 18th to 20th. Strict monitoring will be maintained on all sellers. However, you need to be cautious during this time and buy authentic green crackers, as counterfeit ones are also available in the market. To identify authentic green crackers, keep this in mind: they have a QR code. Every certified green cracker pack has a unique QR code printed on it. By scanning this code, buyers can check whether the cracker is approved by CSIR-NEERI or PESO.
Scanning reveals complete product details, such as the manufacturer's name, license number, and environmental certification. Counterfeit firecrackers either lack a QR code or display incorrect information when scanned. When purchasing, be sure to check the brand name, seal, and manufacturing address. Avoid purchasing firecrackers from local or unlicensed vendors, as these can be highly polluting and dangerous.
Government Deploys Teams
The Delhi government has formed special teams in all districts to monitor the sale of green firecrackers. Temporary or permanent licenses have been granted only to those vendors who comply with the rules. Licenses have been issued to over 200 vendors across all districts, while the remaining applications are under scrutiny.
Monitoring teams will conduct surprise inspections of shops to ensure that counterfeit or polluting firecrackers are not sold. Furthermore, firecrackers are only permitted during designated times: 6 am to 7 pm and 8 pm to 10 pm. Immediate action will be taken against those who violate the rules.
