PM Kisan Yojana 2025:
Farmers across India are eagerly waiting for the release of the 21st installment under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. This flagship initiative by the Central Government provides annual financial assistance of ₹6,000 to eligible farmers in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each. So far, 20 installments have already been distributed, and anticipation for the next payment is at its peak.

According to reports, the payment process for the 21st installment has already begun in some regions. However, the government has not yet officially confirmed the release date. Based on earlier trends, the next payment is expected before Diwali 2025, though in some cases, it may extend into early November, depending on verification and administrative clearance.

The 20th installment was released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 2, 2025, from Varanasi, benefitting millions of farmers across the country.

What is PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana?

The PM-KISAN scheme, launched in 2019, aims to provide direct income support to small and marginal farmers to ensure their financial stability and encourage agricultural activities. Under this program, ₹6,000 per year is directly transferred to the farmers’ bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

This amount is disbursed in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each — generally in April–July, August–November, and December–March cycles. The goal is to provide timely financial relief for purchasing seeds, fertilizers, and other essential farming inputs.

Who is Eligible for PM-KISAN Benefits?

The scheme is strictly meant for landholding farmers, meaning only those who own cultivable land are eligible. The key eligibility criteria include:

  • The scheme covers husband, wife, and minor children collectively as one family unit.

  • The family must own up to 2 hectares (around 5 acres) of cultivable land.

  • The farmer’s name must appear in the state or union territory’s official land records.

  • Completion of e-KYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) is mandatory. Without it, the next installment will not be credited.

Farmers can visit the official website pmkisan.gov.in to update their details, check installment status, or file complaints. For direct assistance, they can contact the helpline numbers 155261 or 011-24300606.

Why the Delay in the 21st Installment?

While some states have already received funds, others are still awaiting disbursement. Reports indicate that the Central Government has released the 21st installment of ₹2,000 to farmers in flood-affected states such as Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and Uttarakhand as an early relief measure.

However, in other states, the verification and beneficiary list validation process is still underway. If the verification is not completed in time, the payment could be delayed until November 2025.

Authorities have clarified that once the final validation is done, the funds will be released immediately into the beneficiaries’ accounts. Farmers are advised to ensure that their Aadhaar numbers, bank details, and e-KYC information are up to date to avoid payment issues.

Expected Date and What Farmers Should Do

Though the government has not yet issued an official statement, it is highly likely that the 21st installment will be credited before Diwali, giving farmers much-needed financial relief ahead of the festive and Rabi cropping season.

To stay updated, farmers can:

  • Check the PM-KISAN Beneficiary List online at pmkisan.gov.in.

  • Verify their Aadhaar seeding and e-KYC status.

  • Keep their bank accounts active and linked with Aadhaar for seamless fund transfer.

Final Word

The PM-KISAN scheme continues to be a vital financial lifeline for millions of small and marginal farmers. As the government prepares to roll out the 21st installment, beneficiaries are hopeful that the funds will arrive soon — ideally before Diwali 2025.

While some delays are possible due to state-level verification, the government’s commitment to ensuring timely and transparent disbursal remains firm. For now, farmers should ensure that their documents are verified and keep track of updates through official sources.
