The Asia Cup 2025 is hardly a week old and we already have seen two sides qualify for the Super Four and two teams get knocked out of the race. That means four sides are still in the hunt for the final two spots of the Super Four. India earned their place by virtue of UAE’s 42-run win over Oman which also saw Oman get knocked out. Sri Lanka are through thanks to their four-wicket win vs Hong Kong and the latter is also out of the race.
Asia Cup 2025 Super Four RaceThat leaves Pakistan, UAE, Afghanistan and Bangladesh fighting for the last two spots. The Super Four will then be trimmed down to the final two who will play the final on September 28. India and Sri Lanka are certainly in it, now the other four teams have a shot as well.

As per the Asia Cup 2025 standings and points table, Bangladesh face a must-win game vs Afghanistan. A win for Afghanistan sends Bangladesh home and seals their place in the Super Four.
However, a Bangladesh victory does not necessarily guarantee them a place because Afghanistan have an extra game in hand vs Sri Lanka. If Afghanistan win that, they beat Bangladesh on points and qualify, meaning the latter’s campaign ends. But should Afghanistan lose to Sri Lanka after losing to Bangladesh, it will come down to NRR where Bangladesh will have an advantage.

For Pakistan and UAE, it is a pretty straightforward situation. The match between the two is a virtual knockout. The winner is through and the loser is out. If for some reason, the match fails to produce a result, then Pakistan go through by virtue of NRR. So for UAE, a result needs to go in their favour.
India vs Pakistan in Asia Cup 2025 Super Four?Unless UAE does pull off a miracle, we are set for another Asia Cup 2025 India vs Pakistan clash on September 21. They met on September 14 and the Men in Blue crushed them by seven wickets. Earlier, India had destroyed UAE by nine wickets to get their title defence off to the perfect start.

India and Pakistan have never played an Asia Cup final and Asia Cup 2025 could change that. But Afghanistan are pretty strong contenders and expected to make it to the Super Four. Sri Lanka are the other threat as they won the Asia Cup the last time it was played in the T20I format. If India win it, they will be the first to win it twice in the shortest format.
Group B is certainly more competitive compared to Group A. But in the Super Four, all that will not matter as four teams will be fighting for two slots again. The top two shall face off for the right to be the top team in the continent.

The Asia Cup till now has been won by only India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Two of those teams are already in the Super Four and it seems the third side shall also go through. So there is a chance we shall see an old champion instead of a new one.
Bangladesh came close in 2012 and 2018 to becoming a new winner of the Asia Cup. They might be able to do it in Asia Cup 2025. But for that they first must make it to the next round. Which of the four teams shall join India and Pakistan who have won a total of 14 out of the 16 editions of the Asia Cup till now? The answer shall be known in a matter of days!
