Patna (Bihar) [India], September 12 (ANI): Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav on Friday launched a scathing attack on the "failed" law and order situation in Bihar, stressing the current status of corruption in the state.
The Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly mentioned that the crime rate is at its highest in Bihar, and no action is being taken and pointed to incidents like the killing of Kharauli MLA's driver, claiming crime is at its peak in Bihar.
He highlighted cash recoveries from engineers' homes as evidence of widespread corruption. He accused the Bihar government, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, of protecting criminals, emboldening them.
"The Bihar government has completely failed. I have got information that Kharauli MLA's driver has been killed. Crime is at its highest in the state today. No action is being taken. You are seeing how money in cash is being recovered from the homes of engineers- this is the state of corruption in the state. This government is not just giving protection to the criminals, but criminals have become bold," Tejashwi Yadav told reporters.
Yadav also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding his upcoming Bihar visit, stating and asserting that both will forget the state after the elections.
"They (PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah) will certainly come...Till elections, they will give 'jumlas', after it, they will forget Bihar," he said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Bihar from September 13 to 15, where he will launch the National Makhana Board. PM Modi will also lay the foundation and inaugurate various developmental projects worth Rs 36000 crores in Purnea.
The RJD MLA further addressed the issue of an AI video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's late mother shared by the Bihar Congress, terming it a matter to "divert attention". Tejashwi Yadav said that he has not seen the video and referred to the previous remarks of PM Modi targeting CM Nitish Kumar regarding his "DNA" in the past.
"I have not seen the video. BJP is only diverting from the issues. Everyone has heard what PM Modi said. Nitish Kumar was abused over his DNA," he said.
The Bihar elections are expected to be held later this year, in October or November; however, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has not yet announced an official date.
While the NDA, comprising the BJP, JD(U), and LJP, aims to continue its tenure in Bihar, the INDIA bloc, comprising the RJD, Congress, and left parties, seeks to oust Nitish Kumar.
In the current Bihar Assembly of 243 members, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) consists of 131, with the BJP having 80 MLAs, JD(U)-45, HAM(S)-4, with the support of 2 Independent Candidates.
The Opposition's INDIA Bloc comprises 111 members, with the RJD leading with 77 MLAs, followed by Congress with 19, CPI(ML) with 11, CPI(M) with 2, and CPI with 2. (ANI)
