Rohit Sharmahas had a solid ODI career as captain. He was recently relieved of his role as the full-time skipper of the 50-over side. Through his astute leadership and positive mindset, he evolved the ODI setup one of world cricket's most formidable units out there. A least as for the upcoming series against Australia is considered, he is set to travel with the team as a regular player.

Chasing 252 for victory in the 2025 Champions Trophy final against New Zealand, Rohit showed his intent early as he started off with a six on just the second ball of the innings. Rohit dominated the proceedings, scoring 47 of the 60 runs India scored in the first 10 overs. He got to his fifty on the first ball of the 11th over. Despite Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli falling, Rohit continued on his merry way.

He looked all set to get to a well-deserved ton. However, he was stumped off Rachin Ravindra's bowling while giving him the charge. However, Rohit's attacking batting meant that New Zealand were on the back foot. India eventually ended up clinching the title as they reached the target with an over to spare. Rohit was deservedly named the Player of the Match.

India were batting first against England in the 2023 ODI World Cup clash and the red soil track in Lucknow was turning out to be a tough deck to bat on. By the end of the 10-over mark, the Men in Blue had lost a couple of wickets and were looking in trouble. However, it seemed as if Rohit was playing on a completely different track.

He found timely boundaries and rotated the strike whenever possible to keep the scoreboard ticking before he was eventually was dismissed for 87, leaving the field to a standing ovation. Rohit's knock ensured that India reached to a competitive 229/9 in their 50-over quota. The English batting unit were obliterated during the chase, wrapped up for 129 as India won by 100 runs and continued their winning streak.

Rohit, who was filling in for Virat Kohli as interim skipper for the ODI series, took nine deliveries to get off the mark in the second ODI of Sri Lanka's tour of India in 2017. By the halfway stage, Rohit had only garnered 52 off 68. He hit his first six of the innings in the 27th over. Rohit got to his ton in 115 balls. This was his first as Indian captain and overall his 16th ODI ton. 

Rohit accelerated at will after notching up his century to go past 150 in no time. By the time the innings ended, Rohit was unbeaten on 208 off 153. He scored more than half the runs India had on the board. This was his third double-ton in ODI cricket. India ended up winning the contest by 141 runs in Mohali.
