Legendary Bollywood actor Dharmendra, aged 89, has once again become the focus of public attention after reportedly being admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital. The actor, affectionately known as the ‘He-Man of Bollywood,’ was taken to the facility earlier this week for medical observation. His admission led to widespread concern after several reports claimed that the veteran star had been placed on ventilator support.
As per Zoom, on Sunday, his wife, actor and politician Hema Malini, was seen visiting the hospital to check on him. The actress arrived in her car and was photographed entering the South Mumbai hospital, which added to speculation about the actor’s health.
Family Clarifies: “Nothing to Worry”
Shortly after rumours of Dharmendra being on a ventilator began circulating online, his family and team stepped in to clarify the situation. Speaking to India Today, the actor’s team confirmed that while he remains under observation, there is “nothing to be concerned about.”
Sunny Deol’s team also denied the ventilator reports, telling ETimes that the circulating claims were “rumour mongering like always.” They further added that the veteran actor is “getting better” and continues to be monitored by doctors.
As per Zoom, a source close to Sunny Deol echoed the same sentiment in a statement to The Indian Express, saying that the “entire ventilator story is untrue.” The source confirmed that Dharmendra has been hospitalised for a week and that Sunny Deol had visited his father earlier in the day. They also mentioned that if there were any serious developments, the entire Deol family would have gathered at the hospital.
Following the official statements, fans took to social media to express relief and send wishes for Dharmendra’s swift recovery. The actor, who continues to enjoy immense love across generations, is known for his humility and dedication to cinema.
Recent and Upcoming Work
On the professional front, Dharmendra was last seen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024), co-starring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, where he played Shahid’s grandfather. He also appeared in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani, alongside Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. The veteran actor will next be seen in Sriram Raghavan’s war drama Ikkis, based on the life of Param Vir Chakra recipient Arun Khetarpal, featuring Agastya Nanda.
