Heavy rain lashed Delhi-NCR on Tuesday, as predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) earlier. Witnessing a shift in the weather after long weeks of hot and dry conditions, the national capital witnessed heavy downpour on Tuesday, disrupting flight operations on the Delhi Airport.
Major airlines, including IndiGo, Air India and SpiceJet issued a=travel advisories for passengers as heavy rains disrupted flight operations in the region.
Indian budget airline IndiGo issued a travel advisory stating that heavy downpour over Delhi is causing temporary disruption to flight schedules, urging passengers to be aware of potential delays.
"There’s a heavy downpour over Delhi at the moment, causing some temporary disruption to flight schedules," IndiGo said in a social media post. "If you’re travelling today, please be aware of potential delays and allow additional time for your journey, especially with traffic moving slower than usual."
Informing passengers of potential delays, the airline said, "Please check your flight status on our app or website before leaving. Remember, we’re here if you need anything along the way."
Air India also informed that heavy rain is likely to impact flight operations to and from Delhi on Tuesday. It urged passengers to check their flight status "before heading to the airport and allow extra time for your journey due to possible slow moving traffic."
SpiceJet in its travel advisory said, "Due to bad weather in Delhi (DEL), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may be affected."
