Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): One of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the south-facing Shri Mahakaleshwar, will embark on a city tour in the form of Shri Manmahesh on the first Monday of the Shravan month on Monday.
The Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee administrator, Pratham Kaushik, said that before the procession, ritual worship of Lord Manmahesh will be performed in the Sabha Mandap of Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple.
After the worship, the deity will be seated in a silver palanquin and taken out for a city tour. At the temple’s main entrance, the palanquin will be given a ceremonial salute by armed police personnel.
Sindhi Community Gears Up for 40-Day Chaliha Festival Honoring Lord Jhulelal from July 16The procession will pass through its traditional route via Mahakal Square, Gudri Square, Bakshi Bazaar, and Kahaarwadi, reaching Ram Ghat where the deity will be bathed in the holy waters of the Kshipra.
It will then proceed via Ramanujkot, Modh ki Dharamshala, Kartik Chowk, Khati ka Mandir, Satyanarayan Mandir, Dhaba Road, Tanki Square, Chhatri Chowk, Gopal Mandir, Patni Bazaar, and Gudri Bazaar before returning to Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple.
Tribal artists’ troupes from the Tribal Folk Art and Language Development Academy under the Madhya Pradesh Culture Council will participate in the procession. Each procession in this Shravan will have a distinct theme.
On the first Monday, a Vedic Udgosh programme will be organised, wherein over 500 Vedic students (Batuks) from Shri Mahakaleshwar Vedic Training and Research Institute and 25 gurukuls of Ujjain will chant Vedic hymns during the ritual worship on the banks of the river Kshipra at Ram Ghat and Datta Akhara areas.
