Ganeshotsav 2025: VVCMC Distributes Free Clay To Idol Makers In Vasai-Virar To Promote Eco-Friendly Celebrations; VIDEO

Palghar, Maharashtra: In a proactive move to promote an eco-friendly Ganesh Chaturthi, the Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation (VVCMC) today began the free distribution of clay to local idol makers. The initiative aims to reduce the creation of Plaster of Paris (PoP) idols and encourage the use of natural clay for a more sustainable festival.

VVCMC Distributes 1,000 Sacks of Clay to Idol Makers

The municipal corporation had previously appealed to local idol makers to shift their focus from PoP to clay idols. In response to a request from the Vasai Virar Idol Makers' Association, the VVCMC commenced the free distribution today. A total of 1,000 sacks of clay, with each of the 25 participating idol makers receiving 40 sacks, are being distributed.

The idol makers expressed their gratitude to the municipal corporation for this commendable effort. The event was attended by VVCMC Additional Commissioner Deepak Sawant, Deputy Commissioner Ajit Muthe, idol makers, journalists, and other municipal staff.

Citizens Urged to Choose Clay Idols for Lord Ganesha

Speaking at the event, Sawant appealed to citizens to support the campaign. "We urge a majority of our citizens to install clay idols of Lord Ganesha to contribute to environmental conservation," he said. "Please give a big response to the municipal corporation's initiative to celebrate an eco-friendly Ganesh festival."

VVCMC Expands Eco-Friendly Measures for Ganesh Festival

The VVCMC's efforts for an environmentally friendly Ganesh Chaturthi also include providing artificial ponds and mobile immersion tanks, along with various facilities at immersion sites such as idol collection centers, aarti areas, sacred garbage bins, medical aid booths, and lifeguards.
