Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In a shocking case from the Kanadiya area of Indore, where the death of a 30-year-old woman, initially claimed by her husband to be caused by a road accident, later turned out to be a case of cold-blooded murder.
An autopsy report confirmed that Rani, the deceased, had died of a bullet wound to her head — turning the investigation on its head and raising chilling questions about domestic violence and betrayal.
Rani, wife of Ishwar — a school bus driver — lived in Kanadiya. According to Additional DCP (Zone-2) Amarendra Singh, she was shot in the head at close range, contradicting her husband’s claim that she had been in a traffic accident.
Police suspect that the motive behind the murder stems from a long-standing marital dispute. Ishwar had reportedly been in an extramarital relationship for the past 3–4 years, which had caused frequent quarrels at home. Relatives said Rani had confronted him several times, but instead of reconciliation, tensions grew.
Bhopal's 12-Year-Old Boy Chokes To Death After Getting Entangled In Sari-SwingRani’s maternal aunt, Kanta, said that on Wednesday, Ishwar called them, saying Rani had met with an accident and was admitted to MY Hospital. By the time the family reached the hospital, Rani had succumbed to her injuries.
They noticed only a head injury, with no visible injuries to other parts of body that would suggest a serious road accident, leading to suspicion.
Initially, police had treated it as an accident case. But the short post-mortem report revealed a stark truth — a bullet lodged in Rani’s skull. She had been shot — not hit by a vehicle.
CCTV footage deepens suspicion
Suspicion deepened when CCTV footage showed Rani walking back from school with her child unharmed, contradicting Ishwar’s version that she had been in an accident while bringing the child home.
Locals in the neighbourhood also told police they had no knowledge of any road accident involving Rani. This directly contradicted Ishwar’s version, in which he claimed Rani was injured while bringing the child home.
Adding to the mystery, Rani’s brother Krishna said tensions had intensified during the recent Raksha Bandhan festival. He alleged that Ishwar’s paramour had demanded that Rani send her daughter to tie rakhi at her (the paramour’s) house. When Rani refused, the paramour allegedly threatened her: “In two days, your body will be found.”
Now, police have detained both Ishwar and his alleged paramour. Investigators are working to piece together the sequence of events — examining whether the crime was pre-planned, who fired the fatal shot, and whether any third party assisted in the act.
