Pipariya (Madhya Pradesh): High-quality moong (green gram) procured by the government in 2023-24 and 2024-25 and kept in warehouses has turned out to be of poor quality.

According to official sources, a few warehouse owners, in collusion with some people, may have changed moong.

The complaints made by the traders about the quality of moong (green grams) shocked the government, sources in the food and civil supplies department said. But the summer moong procured by the government in 2023-24 and 2024-25 was of Fair Average Quality (FAQ).

The government officials and the owners of warehouses were keeping their eye on the quality of moong. According to sources, when the moong was procured, it was of FAQ quality, but the officials failed to understand the reasons behind such poor quality of moong coming out of the warehouses.

The State Marketing Association has asked all the DMOs to probe the complaint of poor quality of moong. The officials have been asked to register FIRs against the warehouses if non-FAQ moong is found in any warehouse.
