Palghar Crime: 42-Year-Old Unqualified Woman Doctor Booked For Possessing Fake Stamps, Banned Drugs At Clinic In Nalasopara

Palghar, Maharashtra: A woman doctor operating an unlicensed clinic in Nalasopara East has been booked by the Pelhar Police for allegedly storing and using restricted Schedule H drugs without proper authorisation, and for possessing fake medical seals of registered doctors.

The accused has been identified as Dr. Tanjeel Ansar Momin, 42, a B.U.M.S. (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery) degree holder and a local resident.

Clinic raided after government doctor files complaint

The case came to light after Dr. Krishna Yuvraj Gosavi, a government medical officer attached to the Dhaniv Nagar Urban Health Centre, filed a formal complaint.

Acting on the information, police registered an FIR on July 22, 2025, under Section 341(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 27(D) of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940. The FIR follows a raid conducted at the accused’s clinic, Ansar Clinic, located in the Shridhar Nagar area of Dhaniwadi, Nalasopara East.

Schedule H drugs recovered during raid

During the search, police recovered a significant quantity of restricted medical substances and forged materials. The seized items include eight rubber stamps with the names of different registered doctors and hospitals, nine vials of Renargan (Promethazine) - one of which was used, five vials of Tazowin (Pentazocin) - four of which had been used, one vial of Phenargan (Promethazine), two 10ml bottles of Lignocaine 2%, and seven unused vials of Zocifix (Pentazocin).

All of these drugs fall under the Schedule H category, which requires a valid prescription and can only be administered by qualified allopathic medical professionals.

Unani doctor allegedly misusing MBBS seals

According to the preliminary investigation, Dr. Momin, despite holding a B.U.M.S. degree, was allegedly conducting medical treatments and storing allopathic drugs without any authority under modern medicine guidelines.

Additionally, she was found to be in possession of forged rubber stamps in the names of other MBBS and MD doctors, which raises further concerns about identity misuse and patient safety.

Authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against individuals illegally posing as licensed doctors and risking public health. Further inquiry is underway to uncover the source of the forged stamps and drugs.
