1000-lb Sisters star Tammy Slaton revealed earlier this year that she’s found love again, three years after the tragic passing of her husband Caleb Wilingham - and has now shared their quirky wedding plans.
The 38-year-old, who identifies as pansexual, surprised fans when she shared on the show’s seventh season that she’s now dating a woman, Andrea Dalton. Just a couple of months after going public with their relationship, Tammy revealed she and Andrea are engaged and have started planning their wedding.
Recently, they took to TikTok to ask fans for creative ideas and were thrilled by a Kentucky Wildcats basketball-themed concept, featuring a basketball court dancefloor, themed cake, and bridesmaids dressed in sports jerseys. “OMG so beautiful, thank you so much,” Tammy gushed, clearly excited by the unusual idea. Though no wedding date has been set yet, it’s clear the couple are considering some unique touches for their big day.
Tammy’s husband Caleb died suddenly at the age of 40, only seven months after they married in November 2022. After his death, Tammy spoke openly about her feelings toward dating men, saying Andrea is her first relationship since losing Caleb.
In a confessional on 1000-lb Sisters, the TV star admitted she hadn’t told her family about dating a woman, expecting some strong opinions. “I think my family probably has more opinions than the world has a**holes,” she joked.
She explained, “A few years ago I came out as pansexual but after Caleb passing, I just don’t want to be with men anymore.” Despite any possible backlash, Tammy seemed confident in her new relationship.
In June, Tammy officially confirmed her engagement during a podcast appearance, showing off her ring and revealing that she and Andrea have been together for “around three years.” The couple met on a dating app and have been inseparable ever since, living together in Kentucky.
Meanwhile, her sister Amy recently got engaged too, making it a year of joy for the family despite their hardships.
Tammy has also been candid about the devastating moment she learned of Caleb’s death, receiving the news via text from a friend. To hold on to his memory, she made jewellery from his ashes—a ring and a musical note necklace—that give her comfort.
“Knowing that he’s with me, it’s helping me pass the day,” Tammy shared, adding that watching old episodes of the show helps her revisit happier moments.
Recently, Tammy and Amy have also been mourning the loss of their cousin Katie, who died aged 37 after battling an aggressive stomach cancer.Katie was also a familiar face on 1000-lb Sisters.
The heartbreaking news was shared by their sister Amanda Halterman last week. She wrote, "It [is] with a completely crushed heart and spirit that I have to post this. My little cousin went to sit at the feet of Jesus yesterday. She was a force to be reckoned with and showed love that was accepting and given freely." Adding, "She was the life of the party and my best friend."
