Things got off to a rather awkward beginning during Monday evening'sBBC The One Show.

As the programme commenced, which recently saw one host forced to step in over a remark, viewers saw presenters Alex Jones and Roman Kemp positioned upright, prepared to reveal what audiences could anticipate later in the broadcast.

Nevertheless, when Alex began speaking, it became evident she had become somewhat tongue-tied. She remarked: "Hello and welcome to your first One cheek- One.."

Upon realising she couldn't articulate her words properly, Roman erupted into laughter at the gaffe whilst Alex informed viewers: "What a start! We are live."

Attempting to rescue his co-presenter, Roman intervened, stating: "We'll run it again! Hello and welcome to your first One Show of the week and we're live on BBC One and iPlayer."

Whilst Alex continued chuckling at the blunder, she declared: "Oh, I give up at the first hurdle."

Despite this, Roman proceeded with the introduction, informing viewers they would be chatting to Jon Richardson, Lindsey Coulson, Brett Goldstein and Imogen Poots later in the programme, reports Wales Online.

Roman's stint on the BBC programme follows the announcement that he's participating in this year's Celebrity Race Across The World alongside his sister Harley Moon.

Discussing his involvement in the series during last week's The One Show, the 32-year-old revealed: "It was high octane, it was the scariest thing I've ever had to do in my life, I had anxiety beyond, but it was the most incredible thing."

Joining Roman and his sister in swapping luxury for backpacks are broadcaster and writer Anita Rani and her dad, Bal, as well as actor Dylan Llewellyn and his mum, Jackie.

BBC viewers will also see presenter and DJ Tyler West participating in the series alongside his fiancée, Molly Rainford.

The upcoming show's synopsis reads: "This series takes the race through one of the most diverse and visually stunning routes yet, spanning the undiscovered Caribbean and Pacific coast of Central America.

"The journey begins on the idyllic Caribbean island of Isla Mujeres, just off the easternmost point of Mexico and challenges teams to race 5,900km to reach the finish line in the remote and breathtaking Península de La Guajira in Colombia – the gateway to South America."

The One Show is available to watch on BBC iPlayer with Celebrity Race Across the World expected to air this autumn.
