Big Brother stars tease 'mischievous' changes to house for the 25th anniversary

Send Push

Big Brother is back on screens next week - 25 years after the series first launched in 2000. The social experiment sent fans wild when it first debuted, and 25 years later, it's still going strong, with fresh concepts and ideas.

In October 2023, the revival launched on ITV, and there have since been two civilian series, and two dramatic Celebrity series, hosted by Will Best and AJ Odudu. The duo are now back for a third civilian series, and they've teased some big changes to the house.

Every year, the house gets a revamp, and the staple diary room chair is the best known, and recognisable feature of the Big Brother house. Each series, the chair is uniquely designed to fit in with the theme of the house, and this year is no different - but that's not the only change.

Spilling the tea on what they know about the new series, Will and AJ told the Mirror and other press: "We've got a new eye, and there might be a new diary room chair. We haven't seen them yet though!"

Despite being able to see the outside of the house during the interview, AJ said: "Is it bigger or is it smaller? Don't know. How many beds are there in the house? We don't know!"

However, the pair also joked that they're the worst people to ask about spoilers, as they're not trusted to 'not open their mouth'.

However, having hosted the show for five series, Will and AJ do have their suspicions on what Big Brother has up his sleeve for the 25th anniversary.

"I do have a suspicion that Big Brother is going to be even more mischievous. I know we always say this, but I promise you, we know nothing currently.

"But he's going to be isn't he? I feel like every series so far, he's been getting more confident in his ability to break people. It's going to be fun!"

AJ added: "We expect Big Brother to do whatever Big Brother wants. We don't know if it's going to be evil or not - but at the heart of it it's going to be entertaining."

One thing that won't be changing however, is AJ's epic launch night outfits. Of course, looking that good takes a lot of planning, and the host has it all planned out.

Teasing the show stopping number, AJ said: "Mine is going to be an evolution of the blue latex catsuit. It’s going to be…" as Will added: "Jaw-dropping."

"I hope it’s going to be jaw-dropping. It’s going to be tight, I will say that. I won’t be able to breathe!" she said.

But what about Will? Well, he joked that he'll also be turning heads. "Mine is going to be a classic silhouette with some fun, sparkly flourishes," he laughed.

Looking good doesn't come without a price however. When asked what the most difficult part of the job was, AJ laughed: "We're on air for just under three hours, and for me sometimes the difficulty is holding myself in a latex catsuit without going to the bathroom!

"My bunions are crying, this latex is pulling at me, and I'm keeping the chats and the good vibes going. It's harder than it looks!"

Big Brother returns Sunday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX
