Boy, 5, raced to hospital after falling from height near major Tube station

A five-year old boy has been rushed to hospitalafter 'falling from a height' near a Tube station.

Emergency services received reports of an incident near Dagenham Heathway Tube station in east London and went to the scene at 2:32pm today. Church Elm Lane was closed off between Church Elm Lane Health Centre and the Tasty Kebab Shop by police. An Air Ambulance was seen at Old Dagenham Park and the child was taken to a trauma unit for treatment.

A Met Police spokesperson said that the child's injuries are not believed to be life threatening while no arrests have been made, and there has been little other detail released about what happened. It is not clear from where he fell and the circumstances surrounding it.

"Police were called at 14:32hrs on Monday, 4 August to reports of a child who had fallen from height in Church Elm Lane, Dagenham," said the spokesperson for the force. "A five-year-old boy was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not life threatening. There have been no arrests."

And a London Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed that crews attended the incident, "arriving in less then five minutes" with the child treated at the scene and then taken to a major trauma centre by road.

They said: "We were called at 2.31pm today to reports of a person fallen from height on Church Elm Lane, Dagenham.

"We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and a paramedic in a fast response car. We also dispatched London's Air Ambulance.

"Our first paramedic arrived in less than five minutes. We treated a child at the scene and took them to a major trauma centre by road."

People have taken to social media following the incident to wish the boy all the best. One person wrote: "Hope he makes a speedy recovery" while another said: "This is so sad."
