Brandon Blackstock's daughter, Savannah, has admitted that she "never imagined" she would lose her father, in a sad message posted a month after the talent manager's death.

Brandon, who had been married to Kelly Clarkson, died in August aged 48. He had been battling cancer for three years. Now, his eldest daughter Savannah has reflected on his passing and took to Instagram to share how difficult it was to lose her father.

The 23-year-old, who is expecting her third child, wrote: “So far, 2025 has been a year full of ‘Trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding.’ As we’re ending Quarter 3 I’ve found myself looking back at all of the love and support my husband and I have had through the lows and heartbreak.

"Seeing my dad sick and losing him was something I never imagined or could have possibly prepared myself for, let alone young and pregnant. We have had an overwhelming amount of love and support poured onto us over the past 6 months and we are eternally grateful."

She added that, this year, she'd finally taken the leap to become a full time real estate agent, after having her license for three years. Savannah said she and her husband, who also works in real estate, were "blessed" with a "caring" set of clients, who had been understanding during her difficult year.

"We've also been bless with the most caring clientele, who have been forgiving and understanding during our unforseen travel plans and mourning the loss of my dad."

Brandon shared Savannah and her brother, Seth, with his first wife Melissa Ashworth. He also had two children with Kelly - River and Remy. When he died, a representative for the family gave a statement. They said: ""It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away.

"Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time."

This happened shortly after Kelly had to postpone her Las Vegas residency after announcing that Brandon was ill. "Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas," the singer said on Instagram.

"While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them. I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding."

Brandon and Kelly met in 2006, when his father, Narvel, was Kelly's manager. They reconnected shortly after Brandon's divorce and got married in October 2013.

They divorced in 2020. Kelly spoke about how the split affected her. "I think the thing about divorce — especially having it publicised, and people thinking they know the whole thing, the hardest part of that is, like, it wasn't an overnight decision.

"Anyone that's been divorced knows that was years in trying to make, not make it work – I never wanted to be part of something to 'make it work'."
