BREAKING: Liverpool handed referee verdict after late drama vs Crystal Palace

Liverpool faced a nervy wait before having their equaliser against Crystal Palace confirmed. Arne Slot's side were behind early on at Selhurst Park after Isamalia Sarr's strike but the leaders hit back late on through substitute Federico Chiesa.

VAR did intervene and checked the goal for a potential infringement by Mohamed Salah, though it was ultimately decided that nothing done was illegal.

Just as it looked as though Liverpool had snatched a point, former Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah grabbed a late winner with Liverpool target Marc Guehi picking up the assist.

There were a number of other major talking points during the game with Liverpool boss Arne Slot shown a yellow card for leaving his technical area when contesting the legitimacy of Sarr's goal.

The Palace forward fired in his fourth of the season from a corner that perhaps should not have been given after replays showed the last touch was made by a Palace player.

Liverpool pushed for an equaliser and found one through Chiesa with three minutes of normal time remaining. A Ryan Gravenberch delivery was not cleared which allowed Chiesa to smash home the loose ball.

For the seventh time already this season, it looked as though a late goal from Liverpool would decide the outcome but Nketiah had other ideas. In the seventh minute of stoppage time, he tucked home the winner with Slot incensed as his strike came after the allotted time added on.

The ex-Arsenal man's first of the season arrived after 5pm with most Premier League games having already finished. However, a medical emergency in the crowd saw play halted for roughly 10 minutes with physios from both teams heading into the stands after Daniel Munoz and Dominik Szoboszlai alerted the referee to the incident.

Nketiah's very late also goal saw Liverpool's seven-game winning run come to an end with Palace also as the last time to beat Slot's side. The 2-1 victory for the hosts has seen them move to within three points of Liverpool and also remain as the only unbeaten team in the Premier League so far this season.
