Brit tourist disappears on Greek holiday island as rental car found abandoned

A British tourist has been reported missing after the rental car he had hired was found abandoned in Karpathos.

Police say the 60-year-old man has not returned to his rented accommodation and a search an rescue operation has been launched.

According to local media reports, the man's hire care was found locked in the Korfasia area of Avlonas, which is close to the more popular holiday island of Rhodes.

The man was last seen by the owner of the holiday accommodation on Friday, June 27, according to a police source.

Members of the coast guard, as well as police and firefighters, have joined the manhunt.
