Bryan Mbeumo shows true character with 'carry him' message over Man Utd teammate

Manchester United star Bryan Mbeumo has explained why he and his teammates need to rally around Bruno Fernandes during the club's current struggles. United were handed another defeat at the weekend as they lost 3-1 to Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The game saw Mbeumogo to the home of his former club, with the forward leaving Brentford during the summer transfer window to complete a £71million switch to United. The loss was United's third in the Premier League this season and fourth across all competitions.

Fernandes missed a penalty during the defeat to Brentford, having also missed from the spot against Fulham earlier in the season. With results going against United for much of the season, Mbeumo says that he and the rest of the United squad must support their club captain.

"It's important to support him because this is what he's doing every time," said Mbeumo in an interview with Sky Sports.

"I think it's normal for us to carry him as well sometimes because he gives us a lot, and it's good for him to have us as well."

United's next match will see them take on Sunderland at Old Trafford in the Premier League at the weekend. Ruben Amorim and Co. will be determined to secure all three points in what will be United;s final match before the October international break.

Part of the challenge that Mbeumo has faced has been playing alongside fellow new signings at United this season. Mbeumo has been joined by Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, Senne Lammens and Diego Leon in completing moves to Old Trafford this summer, with the Cameroon international believing there will be an upturn in results over time.

"It's exciting, because we get to learn to play with new players and it's always challenging, but that's what we like as footballers," said Mbeumo.

"Of course it will improve, we haven't played a lot together, so there are certain things that we're going to improve, and there are different types of players, but it's good to be with them."
