Chris Moyles fumes at Wrexham snub as Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac's club blanks him

Chris Moyles has been left fuming by Wrexham after being snubbed by Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac's club. The former Radio 1 presenter has slammed the Championship side after bosses failed to reply to his request to broadcast live from their ground.

Moyles is taking his morning Radio X programme on the road next week to mark its tenth birthday and had hoped to make a stop at the Stok Cae Ras during the tour. But speaking on air on Tuesday morning, the 51-year-old disclosed that nobody from the Red Dragons had contacted his producers, despite numerous efforts to get in touch.

The Chris Moyles Show will now be transmitted from the neighbouring Turf pub, which gained fame through the Welcome to Wrexham documentary, next Tuesday. Moyles revealed the rejection came even though he had repeatedly promoted the Disney+ series on his radio show and club director Humphrey Ker had appeared twice as a guest.

He also expressed disappointment that Wrexham's Hollywood co-owners were unlikely to appear on the programme. "We are going to be in Wrexham, and we are going to be near the very famous Wrexham ground," said Moyles. "We will have some very special guests joining us live. Have you heard of Ryan Reynolds? Some of our guests have, but it's not him.

"Do you know the other person who owns Wrexham, Rob McElhenney? He also won't be on the show because, and this is true, no one from Wrexham Football Club has actually got back to us. We've had people from that club on the show in the studio, and we've promoted the living bejesus out of the club.

"But we've contacted the club, and we haven't even heard anything back. Instead, we'll be doing the show from the pub. If anyone's listening who lives in Wrexham and knows someone who works at Wrexham FC, can you just drop them a message and ask them to get in touch with us? That'd be great.

"We have plans and fantasies of becoming best friends with Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds. Sadly, as nobody's got back to us, that's not happening."

Speaking directly to two key figures at Wrexham, Moyles added: "Humphrey Ker, where are you? You've been on the show twice, you big lummox. You big lanky man. Oi, Shaun Harvey, from your time at Leeds United, have you not heard us plugging Wrexham and bigging you up?"

Mirror Football understands Wrexham's jam-packed summer timetable, which featured a pre-season tour of Australia and New Zealand, alongside managing the signing of 13 new players, took precedence over the request.

The North Wales club splashed out roughly £33million in total on securing fresh talent during the latest transfer window following their promotion from League One in April. Welsh international stars Danny Ward, Nathan Broadhead and Kieffer Moore were among the new signings.

All three were included in Wales manager Craig Bellamy's latest squad before the international break. However, due to injuries, Ward and Broadhead had to pull out.

Moore netted the only goal as Wales triumphed over Kazakhstan in their World Cup qualifier in Astana last week. The ex-Sheffield United striker made history with his goal, becoming the first Wrexham player to score for the national team since Chris Llewelyn in November 2006.

In a post-match interview with the BBC, Moore expressed his relief at securing the win. "It's safe to say we were on the back foot second half, but to get the three points, we needed that for the team and the campaign," he said. "I'm extremely proud, to mark this occasion [his 50th cap] with a goal and a win is something I'm proud of."
