Coronation Street fans predict legendary ex couple will reunite amid dramatic affair

Send Push

Coronation Street fans have predicted that Sally Metcalfe and Kevin Webster will get back together after more than a decade apart.

The characters were one of the ITV soap's most famous couples from the late 1980s until 2010, but telling scenes that aired on Monday have left some viewers convinced that a reunion will be on the cards.

Kevin (Michael Le Vell) first met Sally when he accidentally soaked her as he drove past her at a bus stop in 1986, and she quickly moved in to number 13, where they lodged with Hilda Ogden (Jean Alexander). They married in later that year and had daughters Rosie (Helen Flanagan) and Sophie (Brooke Vincent) together, but it ended in divorce when Kevin had an affair with Rovers Return landlady Natalie Horrocks (Denise Welch) in the late 1990s.

They remarried in 2002 and their relationship survived numerous infidelities on both sides until Kevin had an affair with Molly Dobbs (Vicky Binns) in 2010, shortly before she died on the night of the tram crash, and left him to bring up their son Jack. Sally has since married taxi driver Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) and they celebrated their fifth anniversary during the latest episode of the world's longest-running TV soap.

Kevin married Abi Franklin (Sally Carman-Duttine) in 2021, but she left him in scenes that aired last week. Despite his suspicions, she did not disclose that she called it all off because she'd been having an affair with his brother Carl (Jonathan Howard). In the latest episode of Coronation Street, Sally was seen getting close to Kevin once more as they had a heart-to-heart early in the morning.

Sally (Sally Dynevor) popped round to Kevin's to check in on him and ended up taking care of the washing up and other household chores, just like she used to in years gone by. Pretty soon, they were reminiscing about old times. She said: "It's funny, isn't it? This is where it all started. Our lives, their childhood," before Kevin chipped in with: "Til I tore it all apart..."

Sally said: "I shall say this only once. Be careful what you wish for," before Kevin admitted: "It was hard to see what we had with all its difficulties." Sally reminded Kevin that things had 'worked out' for her with her marriage to Tim, and he wished her a happy anniversary.

She added: "I'm so glad that you and Tim are pals, and that we are pals. It's really important to me," before adding: "I'm so sorry, Kevin," as she offered her condolences on his latest breakup. Back at home, Sally was presented with a simple anniversary card from Tim, who only learned to read when he was in his early forties, but she seemed less-than-impressed with his efforts. She then suggested they rescind their plans to go to the cinema, and told him to take Kevin out for a pint to cheer him up instead.

That morning, Tim had picked up a fare from Freshco, whom he instantly recognised as Trisha Parkinson, someone he knew in the 1980s. She went to the pub later on and told him that she'd always had his number before giving him a kiss on the cheek. When Kirk pressed him for details on whether they'd actually slept together, Tim said: "I'm not gonna go through all the gory details with you! Alright Kev?" Kevin shot back: "Yeah, I'm sure Sally wouldn't be. It's your anniversary, so why are you over there flirting with another woman while your wife's at home?"

There was no luck for Tim at home either as he mentioned his disagreement with Kevin at home over his anniversary meal with Sally and she instantly took her ex-husband's side. When Tim let slip that Trisha was 'someone who he had a thing with' years ago, Sally hit the roof.

She fumed: "You're sleeping on the sofa because you're an idiot," and when Tim protested that it was their anniversary, Sally said: "Yes! And the way I'm feeling right now, it could be our last!" as she stormed off upstairs. All of this has prompted fans of the programme to speculate that Kevin and Sally could be back together before long.

One user wrote on X: "i feel a sally and kevin reunion coming and i am SO HERE FOR IT!!!!" and another said: "I’m obsessed with Kevin and Sal’s friendship"
