The Prince and Princess of Wales were kept waiting by the Trumps, with King Charles and Queen Camilla soon greeting the US leader for a carriage ride around the Windsor estate. After the pomp and pageantry of the official welcome, the King and Queen gifted several items to the Trumps in honour of their historic visit.

To celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, which was adopted in Philadelphia on July 4 1776, President Trump was gifted a bespoke, hand bound leather volume specially crafted by the Royal Bindery in Windsor Castle. He was also given the Union Flag that flew above Buckingham Palace on the day of President Trump’s inauguration on January 20 2025.
US First Lady Melania Trump also received gifts from King Charles and Queen Camilla, receiving a silver and enamel bowl, crafted using traditional silversmithing techniques by Northern Irish artist, Cara Murphy and featuring Her Majesty’s cypher, and personalised Anya Hindmarch handbag.
The Trumps also shared a gift with King Charles, bestowing a replica of a President Eisenhower Sword. According to Buckingham Palace, the unusual gift symbolizes "profound respect", while also serving as a "reminder of the historical partnership between the US and the UK that was critical" to winning World War II.
The sword also symbolizes the enduring values and cooperative spirit that continues to define the relationship between the United States and Great Britain.
Queen Camilla received her own present from the US leader and the First Lady, receiving a Tiffany & Co. Vintage 18K Gold, Diamond & Ruby Flower Brooch. With the Trumps opting to showcase an American company, this glitzy gift honours the idea of diplomacy by conveying messages of friendship, respect, and a commemoration of this historic visit.
The brooch incorporates both The Queen’s birthstone of Ruby as well as the First Lady’s birthstone of diamond.
The King has received several gifts from world leaders over the years. Among them are Charles’ Coronation gifts, including a Rolls-Royce Cullinan Series II motor car from the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and a leather folder containing printed letters between Queen Elizabeth II and President Eisenhower inviting him to the United Kingdom, with a photograph of the visit, from former US president Joe Biden and his wife Jill.
The US president and the First Lady arrived in Windsor on Wednesday to mark the official beginning of his historic second state visit. Trump was previously welcomed to the UK for a state visit in 2019 by the late Queen Elizabeth, making his 2025 trip an unprecedented gesture towards the American leader.
The second state visit will include an itinerary of pomp and ceremony, including royal banquets and reception, and a getaway to Sir Keir Starmer's country estate at Chequers.
