"She may be strong but she is incredibly vulnerable and she seems to attract drama and difficult people, so she's challenged in every corner which is great as an actor as it keeps you on your toes. That's all I can say but she's not given an easy run."

Michelle then promised that there's more to come with the Max twist, that saw it confirmed he and Zoe knew each other. Flashbacks revealed they'd met in Ibiza before enjoying a romance that soon abruptly ended, after Zoe's drama with new character Greg.

She spilled: "It is a great time going back for the 40th, it felt like an appropriate time. There is more to come. With the Max twist there is more after that and then there is more. So it's really quite something."

Michelle repeated that now was the time to return after 20 years away. She shared: "It feels like the right time, I feel like timing is everything in life and it feels like a good time to be back."

"So I was really quite thrilled when I read them. This is the kind of thing that keeps everyone interested and hopefully it will be exciting for the fans."

Michelle also shut down rumours and theories about the father of Zoe's twins. She hinted fans had yet to work out the truth about who fathered them, amid Zoe's hopes to find her son who was adopted.

She told us: "They're all wrong, I have to say. Sorry, I'm just going to quickly say, if you're putting bets on I'm just letting you know!" Viewers will have to tune in to see what happens next!
