Emma Thompson poses with actress daughter in rare red carpet appearance

Emma Thompson posed with her lookalike daughter on the red carpet for their new joint project. It marks a rare public appearance for Emma's daughter Gaia Wise, who is appearing alongside her mum in a new movie.

Gaia - who is the daughter of Emma and her famous husband Greg Wise - appears in The Dead of Winter alongside hr mum. She plays a younger version of her mum's character and the pair, along with Greg, celebrated the family's achievement at the premiere.

The project was done in Finland and follows the story of a lady called Barb who is travelling through Minnesota. During her travels, she becomes caught up in the kidnapping of a teenage girl.

Speaking at the film's premiere, she said: "I was just very excited. I think I was also excited that we could be together for this amount of time, because I stayed in Finland the whole time we were filming.

"Because I was on call, it was like, if the weather didn't quite permit a scene, they might call us in to do something, so it was always up in the air. But I just wanted to be there, not just to support her, but to be there for the whole thing, because I just wanted to sort of see it and see our character as well."

Sharing how much it meant to watch her mum at work, she added: "Professionally, just watching somebody who I've learned so much from do something quite alien was amazing and made me go, 'Okay. So this is possible.'"

Gaia has always been hopeful about following in her famous parents' footsteps. She said: "I would be lying if I said that I'd ever wanted to do anything else. I was exposed as a child to acting and film sets, and loved watching the process unfold. I feel incredibly lucky to get to call such wonderful actors 'family.'"

Away from this movie, Gaia has also had roles in Silent Witness and anime film The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.

"My mum, dad, and even my grandmother have taught me so much. One thing that really stands out is connecting with the writing. My mum studied English literature, and I loved it too," she says of what her famous family has taught her.

"They taught me to delve deeply into the text — to connect with the words. That’s where I find the character, how they might think, and where they sit in my body. From there, I can build the character and bring in my own experiences."
