It looks as though ITV viewers are less than impressed by the latest drama on the broadcaster, The Hack.
The new seven-part series, which is about the phone hacking scandal, is set between 2002 and 2012 and interweaves two real-life stories. The first follows the life of investigative journalist Nick Davies (David Tennant), the person who uncovered evidence on phone hacking at the News of the World.
While the other story, which is running parallel, is the investigation into the unsolved murder of private investigator Daniel Morgan, which was led by ex-Met Police Detective Chief Superintendent Dave Cook (Robert Carlyle)

However, as the episode began, which showed David Tennant's character narrating the opening moments of the series and breaking the fourth wall, it didn't take long for people to complain.
One scene in particular, which left people baffled, was the identity surrounding 'Mr Apollo', who Nick was meeting at a hotel. As Nick looked into the camera, he said: "To be clear, I've never told anyone who Mr Apollo is, so some guesses have been made."
Although when he opened the door and comedian Harry Hill was stood there, he slammed the door and commented: "Bad guess."
He opened the door a few more times before he was content with one actor to portray Mr Apollo. ITV viewers also saw Jonathan Ross and Gabby Logan make an appearance as the characters before settling on Adrian Lester.
It wasn't long before people watching took to X to share their thoughts about the new show, with many less than impressed.
One person said: "I can't get into it, I'm afraid." Another wrote: "Breaking the 4th wall, nowhere near as edgy as ITV thinks it is.....LAME"
Someone else asked: "#thehack is this meant to be a drama or a satire comedy?" While one person commented: "Is it going to be like this all the way through? David Tennant turning and talking the camera? Because it's annoying me already"
As another viewer added: "I think this talking to the camera in that weird voice is going to be annoying." In agreement, someone else wrote: "The constant talking to the camera is very irritating!"
However, some viewers enjoyed the new drama as one viewer shared: "Really enjoying this fourth wall breaking storytelling we have going on, DT is the perfect actor for this I love I love" While another added: "I’m invested."
A synopsis for the second episode, which is set to air next Wednesday, reads: "DCS Dave Cook is assigned to investigate the unsolved murder of private detective Daniel Morgan, the most investigated homicide in the history of the Metropolitan Police.
"As he is drawn deeper into the case, Dave finds himself under surveillance by the News of the World. When his private and work lives are put under pressure, Dave begins to pursue the case ruthlessly and takes up matters with Rebekah Wade, the News of the World's powerful editor."
