ITV's Lorraine abruptly halted as phone starts ringing live on air

ITV'sLorraine came to a halt on Thursday morning, as the host awkwardly forgot to put her phone on airplane mode before going live.

Discussing Donald Trump's state visit, and Melania's outfit, the host became distracted by a pinging noise, which she soon realised was her phone. Red faced, Lorraine admitted she forgot to put it on airplane mode before going live.

Lorraine was speaking on how "fantastic" she thought Kate Middleton looked during the visit, before she was awkwardly interrupted by a notification on her phone.

As her phone started to make 'pinging' noises, Lorraine chuckled: "Is that George Clooney again? Honestly, he just won't leave me alone! I always put my phone on airplane mode, how very strange!"

In 2022, Lorraine sat down for an interview with the A-List heartthrob himself, alongside Julia Roberts, to discuss their film Ticket to Paradise.

Lorraine was left in fits of giggles during the interview, and later insisted she "wasn't flirting" with the star, who has been married to wife Amal since 2014.

"I was not flirting with him! He’s a lovely man, very funny, interesting – and interested, which is good," she told Radio Times. There’s a lot more to him than what he looks like, which isn’t always the case when somebody’s very beautiful. He’s a good laugh and a good lad."

During the interview, the host asked the duo: "You have a wee kissing scene, but you couldn't do it for ages as you were laughing too much?"

George responded: "'That's a strange phrase though, ''wee kissing scene.' I mean, what time is this show on?"

Lorraine couldn't compose herself, as she laughed: "I'm red. I have actually gone bright red, I'm being very calm and very cool."

Also in fits of laughter, Julia tried to calm her down, as she said: "It's hard to be like that [calm and cool] in front of George Clooney isn't it?"

During an appearance at the 2025 Hay Festival of Literature and Arts Lorraine was asked about the best and worst guestsshe had interviewed revealing Clooney was her favourite.

She gushed: "George Clooney is adorable. He just is. He's my favourite!"
