Jadon Sancho transfer plan clear as Man Utd receive Aston Villa update

Send Push

Aston Villa are already reportedly planning to sign Jadon Sancho permanently from Manchester United less than a month after loaning the winger. Sancho has impressed in short spells at Villa Park since arriving from Old Trafford.

The former England international has managed 82 minutes across two matches for Villa, with both coming as a substitute. However, he will hope that involvement increases over the coming weeks and months after Sancho joined Villa late in the transfer window after a summer of uncertainty.

Chelsea decided to pay a £5million penalty fee rather than make his loan permanent at the end of last season, so the player spent pre-season training separately from United's first team squad.

The club would have preferred to see Sancho leave permanently, but, despite interest from Italy, they could not find a deal that suited both club and player. Sancho is in the final year of his contract at Old Trafford, but United can extend his deal by another year.

According to National World, Villa are trying to take advantage of that situation. Emery is pleased with what he has seen so far from Sancho.

The Midlands side also secured a free transfer from United this summer. Victor Lindelof arrived at Villa Park after his contract expired.

Since Sancho arrived at Villa, Emery has set ambitious targets for the winger. The Spanish boss believes a recall to the England squad under Thomas Tuchel could be on the cards - the forward has managed just one appearance since his United switch in 2021.

"Yes, of course, this is my objective, to get him back to his best, Emery said earlier this month. "And if he does that, then he'll come back to the national team.

"Every player wants to be part of the national team. When he was at Borussia Dortmund, he performed fantastic.

"And he played with the national team 25 matches, more or less. Of course, he's still young.

"He's still hungry to show his capacity to play with his skills, his qualities. Hopefully, we can exploit here, again, his best."
