Marcus Rashford was surprisingly left out of Barcelona'sstarting line-up for their La Liga clash against Getafe despite his double in the Champions League victory over Newcastle just days before. The 27-year-old marked his return to England with two stunning goals after moving to Spain in the summer.
Yet, on Sunday, manager Hansi Flick relegated Rashfordto the bench for the home game against Getafe. According to The Athletic, Rashford's demotion was due to him turning up late for training on the day of the match.
The German boss has a strict policy of not selecting players to start matches if they are late to training or a meeting. Rashford now joins Raphinha, Jules Kounde, and Inaki Pena, who have all received similar treatment.

Raphinha's own incident occurred last week when he was dropped from the starting XI against Valencia. Despite this, he came on at half-time, netted twice in the 6-0 victory and started against Newcastle, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Rashford was brought off the bench at half time at the Estadi Johan Cruyff with Barca comfortably leading 2-0 thanks to a Ferran Torres double. Replacing Raphinha, Rashford reacted positively to his demotion by setting up Dani Olmo for a goal just 17 minutes later.
It isn't the first time Rashford has faced disciplinary issues. Back in January 2024, he was dropped from the Manchester United squad by Erik ten Hag after a night out in Belfast resulted in him missing training.
That was followed by an earlier incident of lateness ahead of a match against Wolves in the 2022/23 season. Under Ruben Amorim last season, he was left out of the Manchester derby alongside Alejandro Garnacho.
The England international has netted twice in Spain and provided two assists in his previous three outings. Barcelona returns to action on Thursday evening when they travel to Real Oviedo before facing Real Sociedad on Sunday.

Reflecting on his Spanish adventure following the triumph over Newcastle, Rashford commented: "He's [Hansi Flick] a top man, top coach and he'll be delighted with not just the three points but the way we won.
"Most goal kicks, they're pressing so high, we still tried to play out from the back, it doesn't work all the time but we looked a positive team and with the quality we have, we can always make things happen."
