Myleene Klass has shared her pride and emotion after taking her eldest daughter, Ava, to university over the weekend.
The broadcaster, 47, described the moment as bittersweet, saying it carried extra meaning because she has raised Ava and her younger sister Hero, 14, as a single mother since her split from bodyguard Graham Quinn in 2013.
Posting to Instagram after dropping off her 18-year-old daughter, Klass admitted she struggled to hold back tears. “We have been through so much together, in particular the single mum journey where I often wondered if I could get her to this point alone,” she wrote.
“I never should have worried, we smashed it. The village scooped us up and today, my beautiful, talented, super smart babygirl started Uni on her terms."
Klass said the day itself was a flurry of activity as she and her partner Ryan Smith loaded a borrowed car with Ava’s belongings, including an air fryer, hairdryer and her electric guitar.

She added: “I loaded her into her digs with the rain lashing down, ferrying boxes and bags up stairs before putting up her fairy lights and making her bed (I washed her new bedding especially with extra softener so it could smell like home) before racing off to grab last minute supplies.”
The former Hear’Say star said the reality of driving away from campus was one of the hardest parts. “The feeling of getting back in the car, finally stopping, taking stock, realising, where it was previously piled high with her worldly goods and looking round at the empty passenger seat where she was car DJ on the drive up reverberates through your entire soul but oddly, so does motherly joy, satisfaction and pride.”
The proud mum also reached out to other parents experiencing the same milestone, writing: "I know I had every mother with me on the drive there and the way back. What a day.

"To you who have followed, supported and cheered us to this pivotal point, thank you. Mama’s dropping off this week, I see you. I’m driving home with you. If we do our job right, they can go and we can sit back knowing we did it. Proud of us all x.”
The musician and presenter has been open about her family life and her past. Earlier this year she spoke about the breakdown of her relationship with Quinn, recalling on Paul Brunson’s podcast: “I walked in on him with a famous person on my birthday on a balcony.
"I have made peace with that situation now but for a long time it was very difficult to see their life… my life literally broke apart very, very publicly and their life they have continued to build a family brand on it.”
For now, Klass says she is focused on celebrating her daughter’s achievements, describing Ava’s university move as “a day that will stay with me forever.”
