Netflix has made an important The Four Seasons season two announcement months after its renewal. Adapted from the 1981 Alan Alda film of the same name, Netflix's The Four Seasons welcomed an all-star cast which told the stories of three couples whose lives are disrupted when one of them breaks up.

The long-time college friend group goes into meltdown as Nick (played by Steve Carrel) and Anne (Kerri Kenney-Silver) divorce with matters made worse as Nick is now dating much younger dental hygienist Ginny (Erika Henningsen).

This disruption in the status quo causes problems for both the marital and friendship dynamics which is explored over four luxurious holidays including at a New York lake house and a snowy ski rental.

But everything came to a head in the penultimate episode when Nick dies in a car accident and Ginny tells Anne that she’s pregnant.

Co-written by Mean Girls’ Tina Fey, Never Have I Ever’s Lang Fisher and The Mindy Project’s Tracey Wigfield, The Four Seasons was undoubtedly a hit with Netflix subscribers.

So much so that it only took a couple of weeks before the streamer gave the comedy-drama the thumbs up for a second season.

Now, Netflix has confirmed that production for The Four Seasons series two has started.

So far, there has been no talk of a possible release date but given that the new episodes are now in the works, there is a chance The Four Seasons could be back in early-mid 2026.

Speaking about The Four Seasons, co-creator and actress Fey explained to Tudum: “This show is a love letter to all kinds of relationships.

“But I love that it’s told through the eyes of our generation.

“I think everyone will appreciate it, but there’s something lovely about it being told through a lens of people that are at that stage in their life where they’re recent empty-nesters and in long-term relationships. It’s nice to see a story like that for a change today.”

When season one came out in May, it maintained the number one spot on Netflix’s English TV list for its first two weeks with more than 24 million views.

The Four Seasons is available to watch on Netflix.
