Michelle Ackerley was rushed to hospital just moments after coming off air from Morning Live, and will now take medical leave.

The BBC star is expecting a baby girl soon. She returned with the show earlier this month following the summer break but has been absent from the programme since 8 September. Michelle, 41, has now revealed that she was rushed to hospital shortly after coming off air and admitted for four days.

The TV presenter explained that she had a painful infection in the inner ear called labyrinthitis, which can affect your balance. Sharing a health update with fans via Instagram, she assured fans that all was right with her pregnancy. She posted a picture showing off her growing baby bump and wrote: "Well it's been quite the rollercoaster of a few days this end.

"Had such a lovely day back at work with the awesome BBC Morning Live team last Monday. Then unfortunately ended up in hospital with labyrinthitis for the next 4 days. I don't know it anybody has had it before but it ain't ideal. "

She added that the midwives at the Manchester hospital where she was taken were "amazing" and that, though she is feeling better, she will remain off air for now.

"I have to say the midwives at St Mary's Hospital in Manchester were amazing and kept me calm with all the anxieties of being ill whilst pregnant. Resting up and nesting at home now.

"I'll be back on BBC Morning Live in the new year though, with a new baby addition to add to the family."

Michelle announced she was pregnant with her first child in May. She confirmed the news on Morning Live after her co-host Gethin Jones teased that she had news to share. "Yes, I am four months pregnant," she said, happily. "I still can't quite believe it myself."

Later, on social media, Michelle shared her fertility troubles, given she has been diagnosed with endometriosis. She said she wanted to share her pregnancy journey on Instagram as she had started talking about the diagnosis and the likelihood of her being infertile the year before.

"I wanted to share though as my journey with endometriosis and infertility is something I finally felt confident to start speaking about more openly last year - realising how many other women were going through similar experiences. Feeling part of a community - especially when it comes to women’s health can really make a difference.

"Even at the very start of this year I was gearing up for yet another endo procedure and trying to come to terms with the mental & physical impact they can have.

"It has been quite the emotional rollercoaster."
