Rasmus Hojlund is prepared to admit defeat on his career at Manchester United and pursue the exit door after the signing of Benjamin Sesko pushed him further down the pecking order.
Ruben Amorim has signed a number of new forwards, but it wasn't until Saturday that they confirmed the capture of a No 9. They spent more than £70million to land Sesko and that is set to hamper Hojlund's involvement going forward.
He has previously rejected the potential of a move to RB Leipzig when the Manchester outfit were negotiating over a deal for Sesko. Now though the Dane is being more receptive to the idea of leaving Old Trafford with AC Milan coming to the table, reports TalkSport.
The Italians are in talks with United over a potential move for the £40m-rated Hojlund. The Serie A outfit would ideally want a loan deal with a buy option at the end of the season as the Red Devils look to recoup some of the cash they paid to sign the striker only two years ago.
If he does leave for the aforementioned fee it would still represent a loss of around £30m on the striker, who managed just four goals in the Premier League last term. That lack of potency is what motivated Amorim to go into the market.

Only last week had Hojlund claimed, amid the talk of United pursuing a new striker, that he relished the prospect of competition and was determined to prove himself. “I think my plan is very clear and that's for me to stay and fight for my spot, whatever happens," he said.
"Competition is fine with me, it sharpens me. I'm more than ready. I'm feeling sharp, so I'm welcoming everything that comes. I think it's good with competition and it only sharpens the team. I'm still very young. I think people forget that sometimes. I'm only 22. Obviously, not every striker is scoring 100 goals at the age of 22. But I've learned a lot, I think you can see in my game."
It remains to be seen whether Joshua Zirkzee has a future in Manchester with Sesko now due to spearhead an attack that will also feature Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. All in all the Portuguese manager has spent more than £200m in his first summer.
Amorim himself failed to rule out the possibility of Hojlund leaving in this window as he admitted: “The important thing is that Rasmus is scoring goals. He's connecting really well with the team. He's improving. Again, I don't know what is going to happen until the market is closed."
