With mobile manufacturers releasing new models every year, it's tempting to upgrade every couple of years to stay on trend. However, with phone advancements slowing down, there's less need to splash out on the latest model when older, more affordable devices are still up to the job.
Two Samsung models from 2017, the Galaxy J3 and J5, are currently on offer at a massive discount, dropping from £139.99 to just £29 in a Wowcher deal. These refurbished handsets may show some signs of wear and tear, but they're still as functional as when they were brand new.
Even better, you can bag these devices for an even lower price with a TopCashback deal.Set up a new account with the money-saving service and shoppers will receive additional cashback on their purchase, bringing the effective price down to £23.35.

The most affordable of the two is the Galaxy J3, boasting a 5-inch display perfect for web browsing or sending emails and messages. Granted, its 2017 hardware won't compete with this year's Galaxy S25 Ultra, but it's more than capable of handling everyday tasks expected of a modern phone.
While the camera won't win any awards, the single lens on the back is sufficient for capturing memories and sharing them on social media. The device comes with 16GB of internal storage, which can be expanded with a microSD card, reports the Manchester Evening News.
The package includes the handset itself, alongside a charging cable, SIM-ejection tool and a quick start guide to help you get acquainted with your new gadget.
It appears that charging bricks are available separately, as is the case with most mobile phones nowadays. Amazon also features its own refurbished section on the website with devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE available for £160.
For customers who are keen on a brand new handset rather than refurbished, the Nothing Phone(3a) receives excellent ratings from buyers and is currently available for £315.84 at Amazon.
Tech Radar assessed the Samsung Galaxy J3 upon its initial release, awarding it three stars in total. "With a bright screen and slim design, the Samsung Galaxy J3 makes a good first impression, but annoyances like a lack of auto brightness hold it back from greatness," states an extract from their assessment.
PCMag provided a similarly rated review of 3.5 stars. Their assessment commended its extended battery life and vivid display, but highlighted poor camera performance and 'subpar call quality'.
