England have been crowed Women's Rugby World Cup champions after triumphing 33-13 over Canada in the final. The Red Roses defeated Canada in front of a record women's rugby crowd of 81,885 at Twickenham's Allianz Stadium, securing their third World Cup title.
"It means everything," England's defence coach Sarah Hunter told BBC One. "It's a moment in time for the women's game. For our girls to experience being world champions in front of an amazing ground is incredible. I'm just immensely proud of them.
"Everyone spoke about Canada's threat but we just stuck to our process. We denied them access at all points. I will forever be proud of them for what they've done today."

A financial reward is now guaranteed to the Red Roses, and The Mirror has taken a closer look at the figures.
How much will England pocket for World Cup glory?Simply for earning their spot in this year's World Cup squad, England's women pocketed £5,000 apiece - twice the amount they received previously.
An additional £15,000 windfall is expected and consequently, England's stars could pocket a total of £20,000.
"The new contracts are a significant development and a mark of the advancement in the women's game since they were first awarded," Rugby Football Union (RFU) executive director of performance Conor O'Shea said in 2023.
"We have led the way with the introduction of contracts, as well as provision such as the ground-breaking maternity policy introduced earlier this year for our female athletes."
What about the men's earnings?During the 2023 World Cup in France, champions South Africa reportedly scooped £5million for their tournament victory. The exact portion distributed to players remains undisclosed publicly (or whether they receive any share whatsoever).
This represented a substantial jump from 2019's prize money of approximately £300,000. Nevertheless, SA Rugby president Mark Alexander confirmed in 2023 that Springbok squad members would receive victory bonuses for their triumph.
Despite his initial comments suggesting otherwise, numerous online sources indicated that £5million was on offer for the winners.
"World Rugby does not give prize money for the trophy, but we have win bonuses we planned four years in advance and they are taken care of by that. Our players receive prize money which we plan for four years in advance," he explained.
Despite this, the bonuses were not explicitly revealed. To provide some context, though, let's look at France.
Tipped as potential winners of the tournament they hosted two years ago, they were knocked out by eventual winners South Africa in a thrilling quarter-final contest.
Had they reached the final and claimed victory, players would have earned roughly £174,000 each, so whilst it would be reasonable to assume South African players would have received a similar figure, that depends on SA Rugby and the bonuses agreed four years prior.
England players, meanwhile, collected £100,000 each simply for appearing in the pool stages, which rose incrementally the further they progressed.
