Strictly Come Dancing's first live show hit with double blunder minutes apart

Send Push

Strictly Come Dancing's first live show was hit with a double blunder just minutes apart tonight. The 2025 series is back with a bang but it seems things haven't gone too smoothly so far.

The show was hit with two mistakes withing just minutes of each other. Claudia Winkleman was chatting to EastEnders star Balvinder Sopal after her performance when she tried to hand back over to Tess Daly.

However, it soon became clear that Tess wasn't ready for the camera to be back on her as Claudia quickly told viewers that they weren't ready for her on the dancefloor yet.

Claudia brought the camera back to her and started to awkward ask Balvinder how her week had been before suddenly interrupting to say Tess was ready.

But that wasn't the only mishap as just a few minutes later La Voix took to the dancefloor but her performance also didn't go as planned. La Voix was dancing an American Smooth to Chappel Roan's Pink Pony Club and the drag queen was set to descend onto the floor on a pony.

However, as La Voix chatted to Tess about how she did but then revealed that she was supposed to descend from the horse but because of "live TV" mistakes, this couldn't happen.

Aside from the dancing on the show, La Voix has said that there's another reason she is also on the show. At a press event for the launch show, the drag icon was asked about the infamous Strictly curse, which refers to those on the show who end their current relationship after finding romance with another contestant or pro dancer.

"I say bring it on," she declared. "I'm single. Absolutely." La Voix added that she's "living the dream" with her Strictly experience. Following on from Tayce, who danced with Kai Widdrington in last year's Christmas special, La Voix is the second drag queen to compete on the show and the first to take part in a full series.

But, the 45-year-old doesn't seem to be feeling the pressure and is instead "glad" to be on the show and represent the drag community.

"I think the want for it for many, many years has been there," she continued to tell Metro. "I mean, it's the campest, glittery show, the whole thing goes hand in hand. There's no reason why it shouldn't be, and I'm just glad to bring good entertainment to that show.

She added that Strictly was the ideal spot to feature a drag icon and highlighted that it's nothing new. "There's no deeper message. There's no ulterior motive. It's just prime time TV. I think we're used to Dame Edna and Lily Savage for all those years. Let's bring that back to TV."
