Former Strictly Come Dancing star John Whaite has revealed the impressive amount of money he made in less than a year on OnlyFans.

The 36-year-old announced he was quitting the adults-only platform earlier this week. But in a Q&A with fans on Instagram, the TV star – who shot to fame when he won The Great British Bake Off back in 2012 – didn't hold back when some of his 300,000 followers asked him questions about the racy site.

When one fan asked: "How much money did you make (ball park) for someone who's thinking if it's worth it," John shared he made just shy of £200,000 in just 11 months. But he went on to claim he could have made 'quadruple' that if he had dedicated more time to the site, which would have made him an almost millionaire.

Speaking in the social media video, John revealed: "This is a tricky question isn't it, because I don't like speaking about personal wealth and income. But it is an elephant in the room, as some people think I've made millions on OnlyFans and others think I made nothing."

He continued: "The truth - honestly in 11 months I took home $270,000, [£200,000] so it can be a very lucrative platform. If I had spent more time on that and more of my time solely to OnlyFans, I probably could have double, tripled, quadrupled that. It's not just about making content, it's about marketing and catching people's eyes and giving them a reason to subscribe."

The baker, who now has his own brownie brand called Ruff Puff, went on to say he has 'a lot of respect' for people who are successful on OnlyFans but claimed he was 'not money driven like that.'

Announcing his focus would now be focussing on his bakery business, which he felt he had 'neglected' of late, he added: "I find much more fulfilment with working at people at the Ruff Puff bakehouse.

"I'll miss chatting to people and the creativity of it, but I won't miss feeling like I have to be muscular. I want to feel like I can get a bit fatter here and there, and it wasn't healthy being obsessed with my body image."

As John quit OnlyFans – where he went by the name Jonny Boy – he told fans he now feels a 'true sense of purpose' for the first time in more than a decade.

Sharing the news this week, he wrote: "I'm leaving OnlyFans. Life has shifted in a way I couldn't have predicted - Ruff Puff Bakehouse and Ruff Puff Brownies have taken up so much of my time, but in the best possible way.

"They've reminded me of a talent I'd neglected, and given me a new respect for the craft that first set me on this path all those years ago. Working side by side with the team, creating something real and lasting, has shown me that my value isn't in muscles or body image - it's in building, baking, and sharing."

He continued: "For the first time since Bake Off 13 years ago, I feel a true sense of purpose again. This isn't the end of something, it's the start of a new chapter - one rooted in passion, creativity, and community. And I couldn't be more ready."

His post concluded: "To all the OnlyFans fans and peers - thank you for the support along the way. I wish you all well and much success. I'm not Jonny Boy, I'm just John, and I'm putting one foot in front of the other just like the rest of the world."

After winning Bake Off when he was just 23 years old, John went on to work on Steph's Packed Lunch and competed on Strictly in 2021, placing as runner-up with dance partnerJohannes Radebe in the final.

It has previously been claimed by John that he once earned more in one month through OnlyFans that he did for taking part in Strictly. He's also previously said that his use of the platform had affected his relationships with some brands.
