The Inbetweeners cast now from co-star romance and TV fame to surprise career move

The Inbetweeners cast could be gearing up for a reunion, after a 15-year absence from our TV screens.

On Monday it was announced that a new deal between Banijay UK and Fudge Park Productions, the company founded by the series' writers and creators, Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, has unlocked the rights of the comedy title with the potential of its return across film, TV and stage.

Beesley and Morris said it was "incredibly exciting to be plotting more adventures for our four favourite friends (ooh friends)"

A decade after their last collaboration, the main characters have carved out successful careers and family lives. Joe Thomas, who portrayed Simon in the popular coming-of-age comedy, disclosed that he and other members are ready for a reunion.

The show aired three series from 2008-2010 before being adapted into two films released in 2011 and 2014 respectively. The comedy raked in nearly $90million at the box office, catapulting Joe, Simon Bird, James Buckley and Blake Harrison to fame.

Let's see where the four actors are now...

Since The Inbetweeners ended, Simon Bird has been a regular on our screens. He went on to star in Friday Night Dinner and then appeared in a Channel 4 series called Everyone Else Burns.

The actor, now 40, shot to fame in The Inbetweeners where he played Will. When asked which of the most iconic episodes he would reshoot, he chose "the field trip episode".

Simon recalled: "A beautiful location, fish and chips on the beach, watching one of my closest friends, Joe Thomas, almost dying of hypothermia. What could be better?" Post-Inbetweeners, Simon co-created and starred in the Sky comedy Chickens in 2013 and took to the West End stage for The Philanthropist in 2017.

He's also graced the screen in The Look of Love, The Harry Hill Movie and You, Me and Him. His voice is a familiar sound on The Trainline's adverts.

The actor is happily married to writer Lisa Owens. The lovebirds first crossed paths at Cambridge University during a sketch performance.

He popped the question during a romantic getaway to Paris in 2011.

The couple exchanged vows in 2012. They are proud parents to two boys, but they kept the birth of their first son under wraps until he was six months old.

Joe Thomas - Simon Cooper

The Inbetweeners served as a launchpad for Joe Thomas' career and introduced him to his significant other, Hannah Tointon.

After over a decade together, the couple welcomed their first daughter in 2022. Despite keeping their relationship largely out of the public eye, Joe confirmed they were an item back in 2010.

He quipped: "I can't really see how those scenes kindled romance because they were all her being sick into my mouth... but I'm really into that so obviously it was fine! It's quite an intense thing being on set, so maybe that contributes, but we're not basing our relationship on the relationship of Simon and Tara in the show."

After the series concluded in 2010, Joe Thomas, who played Simon Cooper, landed another popular role as Kingsley Owen in Fresh Meat. He later reunited with Simon Bird for the 2013 comedy Chickens and has since starred in shows such as White Gold and the 2022 sci-fi comedy We Are Not Alone.

In 2018, Joe made a return to the big screen in the comedy film The Festival. He also made a comeback to Channel 4 when he appeared on Celebrity Bake Off in 2023.

Blake Harrison is best recognised for his role as the endearing Neil in The Inbetweeners, but his career has taken a slight turn since then. He's tried his hand at Agatha Christie adaptations and even appeared on Bake Off.

He's also launched his own weekly podcast, The MMA Fan Show, which Blake describes as being hosted by "two over-excited lads having a blast", who are "under qualified to host an MMA podcast as neither of them have got in a cage".

Following the end of The Inbetweeners in 2010, Blake went on to star in the hit 2018 drama A Very English Scandal alongside Hugh Grant and also did voiceover work for the reboot of Bob the Builder. He also starred in Private Pike in Dad's Army, Travis Pickford in Agatha and the Truth of Murder and Greg Tullet in The Kindred.

More recently, he starred opposite Billie Piper in I Hate Suzie Too. Blake is married to wife Kerry Ann Lynch and they live in Kent with their two children, a daughter and a son.

James Buckley - Jay Cartwright

James Buckley, famed for his iconic portrayal of Jay Cartwright, has certainly carved a successful path post-show, now earning a living by charging fans for personalised videos.

Reportedly raking in £10,000 a week from selling clips on Cameo, he's said to have become the first UK celebrity to hit millionaire status on the app, amassing a whopping $1 million (£930,000) in 2022 alone.

James graced the small screen in the TV series White Gold, sharing the spotlight with co-star Joe Thomas, and even made a guest appearance in a 2020 episode of Doctor Who. However, it was his venture into Cameo that he credits for his financial independence.

A significant chunk of James' time is dedicated to his YouTube channels - a gaming vlog dubbed 'Completed It Mate' and another named 'At Home With The Buckleys'. He also shares glimpses of his family life with wife Clair Meek and their sons Harrison, 12, and Jude, 11.

The couple also penned a book in 2022 titled 'At Home With The Buckleys: Scummy stories and misadventures from modern family life'.
