The One Show star clears up confusion 'I don't want people to think I'm rude'

Presenter of The One Show, Alex Jones, made sure viewers knew she wasn't being impolite to one of their guests during Wednesday's programme.

On theBBC show, which recently witnessed the star endure a significant mishap, Alex and Clara Amfo chatted to Richard Osman and Joanna Page.

But before diving into their chats, she swiftly addressed Richard's previous appearance on the programme, which coincided with Alex marking her 15-year milestone on The One Show.

During that visit, Alex thought she was discussing the film version of his novel, The Thursday Murder Club, with Richard.

Yet he interrupted the conversation to reveal he would be co-presenting the special episode, leaving her stunned at the time, reports Wales Online.

In the latest instalment, Richard made his return to the famous green sofa, with Alex eager to reference his earlier shock.

She said to him: "Richard, I haven't seen you since you were here last, and you played that trick on me, which was a lovely surprise to celebrate 15 years.

"Thank you so much, I have told you this in person, but I don't want people to think I'm rude, you see, by not telling you. But you are here tonight now, to talk about your new book?"

Ensuring he wasn't there as part of another ploy, he responded: "No, I am! You genuinely were a bit frightened then! The real deal."

When Clara questioned her colleague about whether she trusted he hadn't organised anything special, Alex answered: "I think so..."

During their conversation, they discussed the triumph of his book's film adaptation before he revealed some thrilling news, as The Thursday Murder Club is being transformed into a stage production.

He responded: "We did the movie but I had nothing to do with that, so that was lovely I just had the fun of it."

Richard revealed that he and Tom Basden are crafting an original Thursday Murder Club tale, but for theatre.

The writer continued, "It's really, really good fun. I think people will love it. We are about six months behind where we should've been at the moment, so if my producer is watching, I apologise Matt!"
