For those not in the know, Qualcomm's Snapdragon chips power many of the world's most well-known Android devices including those made by Sony, Honor and Samsung.
Now, something even better is coming soon, which will mean those upgrading will get faster performance, longer battery life and smarter AI.

This Gen 5 superbrain now replaces the current Snapdragon 8 Elite found in phones such as Samsung's Galaxy S25 range.
When the new processor arrives in devices, users can expect to see lightning-fast multitasking, seamless switching between favourite apps and improved game play with quicker performance and power efficiency.

There's also good news for those who like making movies on their phones. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is the world’s first mobile platform to record in Advanced Professional Video (APV) codec. This enables professional-level video production for a more polished and Hollywood-style look to home movies.

It also works togther with the latest X85 5G Modem to offers download speeds of up to 12.6Gbps all whilst using less battery life. At that rapid rate it would take seconds to download an HD movie onto devices.

It enables personalised AI agents to see what you see, hear what you hear and think with you in real time,” said Chris Patrick, senior vice president and general manager of mobile handset, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 pushes the boundaries of personal AI, allowing you to experience the future of mobile technology today.”
