Waterfall in tiny village draws huge crowds but everyone has the same complaint

A tiny waterfall that draws in crowds of tourists is 'not worth the hype at all' according to one visitor.

Parking near the beauty spot has been described as 'outrageous' by someone who recently visited the location, although others have said it's a 'beautiful place'.

Locals bear the brunt of the masses especially during weekends and summer season, with throngs and cars blocking roads in the spot that boasts one of the 'most famous' waterfalls in Europe.

The 120ft waterfall at Aber Falls in Wales - and its surrounding area have been popular tourist hotspots since the 18th century.

However, recently and largely due to social media attention a constant stream of people causes a 'stampede' and a lot of noise in the beauty spot, reports the Express.

Aber Falls has been reviewed over 4,000 times on Google reviews by visitors, with many praising the natural beauty of the destination, however, the crowds have left some less impressed.

One recent reviewer wrote: "Not worth the hype at all, this is a huge instagram vs. reality moment.

"The falls aren't anything special, there's a lot of other, more beautiful places in the area so don't waste your time here. It's overrun with tourists.

"After the long, boring hike uphill on a gravel path you are met with a noisy, busy site at the falls."

One disgruntled visitor bemoaned the £5 parking fee, describing it as 'outrageous'. They also complained about the congestion after 11am, stating that 'the place fills up so much that it's impossible to even get out of the parking lot', labelling the experience a 'major disappointment'.

On the other hand, another tourist praised the location as a 'beautiful place' with 'good car parking in the week', but conceded that 'weekends would be different'.

The area has become so congested that locals have reported being trapped in their homes, unable to leave the village.

The access road leading to the waterfall has now become so busy that the nearby village of Abergwyngregyn in Snowdonia (known as Eryri in Welsh) can also become gridlocked due to the influx of people coming to see Aber Falls.

Another reviewer said: "I came here with the rest of the world, through a tiny village with a single road where everyone was fighting to pass by - no spaces, no fun, I do not recommend."

However, another visitor who thoroughly enjoyed their trip to the waterfall wrote: "It was a good trek to the waterfall, but really worth it, the landscape is stunning and the waterfall was amazing.

"Very popular with it being the summer as it should be, careless people not taking their litter home was the only complaint I have - parking was £5 for the day."
