Ranbir Kapoor seems ready to take his biggest professional leap yet. After the success of Animal, the actor has been deeply immersed in upcoming projects like Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War. While Love and War is expected to mark his grand return to theatres next year, Ranbir already has his eyes set on a much bigger dream — the revival of his family’s iconic production house, RK Films.
According to recent reports, Ranbir is working on bringing back the legacy of RK Films and RK Studios, which were originally founded by his grandfather, the legendary Raj Kapoor, in 1948. The plan is not just to reopen the studio but to restore the entire RK legacy — from producing films and hosting industry events to transforming it into a creative hub for the next generation of filmmakers. Sources reveal that legal and operational formalities are in their final stages and that an official announcement could be made on December 14, Raj Kapoor’s birth anniversary.
The revival reportedly fulfills a long-standing wish of Ranbir’s late father, Rishi Kapoor. Ranbir wants to ensure that the iconic banner once again becomes a cornerstone of Indian cinema, just as it was during the golden era.
Adding to the excitement, Deepika Padukone is said to have joined hands with Ranbir for the first major film under the revived banner. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the project is rumored to be a contemporary family drama and could begin production after Diwali, with a potential release in September next year.
The film is expected to feature an impressive ensemble including Konkona Sen Sharma, AR Rahman, Mohit Chauhan, and Arijit Singh. Interestingly, many industry stars are reportedly willing to work at reduced fees to support the revival of the Kapoor family’s legacy.
