Carlos Alcaraz won't pull out of the US Open mixed doubles, despite the tight turnaround following his Cincinnati Open victory. The Spaniard is due to link up with Emma Raducanu at Flushing Meadows, with the two-day mixed doubles tournament scheduled to be played today (Tuesday) and tomorrow.
"The scheduling is not the best to be honest, playing tomorrow," Alcaraz admitted after triumphing in Cincinnati following the early retirement of his rival Jannik Sinner in the final. "But the concept of the tournament and the mixed doubles, I just loved it.
"It's going to be new for me, which I love. I'm going to have so much fun playing there, playing with Emma. It's going to be tough against [Jack] Draper and [Jessica] Pegula. But I will try to enjoy it as much as I can."
"I will try to see how the court will be, the balls, everything. I will treat it as a really important and good preparation for me.
"I will try to be at my best tomorrow after the trip to New York and I'm probably going to sleep late. But I will try to put my best tennis to help Emma get the win. And let's see if we will get it, but I think it's going to be fun and great to have those matches."
