Chelsea captain Enzo Fernandez shouts at own bench and fans in angry Fulham explosion

Send Push

Enzo Fernandez let rip at a member of Chelsea's backroom staff shortly after the Blues took the lead during Saturday's clash against Fulham. The world champions had huffed and puffed during a controversial first half at Stamford Bridge, but eventually found the breakthrough on the brink of half-time.

It proved the final action of a tense opening 45 minutes, but the hostilities continued off the pitch, with Fernandez spotted confronting fitness coach Marcos Alvarez. The Argentine was seen offering up his captain's armband to the coach, with midfielder Andre Santos also seen warming up at the time.

It was an altercation that raised eyebrows, given that Fernandez had sent in the cross, which led to the Joao Pedro opener from a corner. The World Cup winner would prove his worth to manager Enzo Maresca once again in the second half, when he stepped up to convert from 12 yards to make it 2-0 to the home side.

However, it was referee Robert Jones who found himself at the heart of proceedings, with the official having opted to bizarrely rule out a Fulham goal at 0-0. Teenager Josh King had put the ball into the back of the net, but upon a VAR review, Jones ruled the goal out for a Rodrigo Muniz foul on Trevoh Chalobah in the build-up.
