Coronation Street viewers took to social media to issue major complaints after the programme returned to ITV on Monday (October 20) with a fresh insight into the villagers' complicated lives. However, during the episode, fans revealed they were fed up with a Becky Swain (played by Amy Cudden), who has recently arrived on the cobbles after coming back from the dead. However, as DS Lisa Swain's (Vicky Myers) former partner, Becky's return has left her feeling stirred after she was led to believe that she died in the line of duty, leaving Lisa and their daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin) to mourn her death for four years.

The most recent episode saw the two former couple almost share a kiss before being interrupted by Betsy and Roy Cropper (David Neilson). Fuming fans were left urging for Becky to return to Spain, where she was in hiding, as he arrival threatens to complicate Lisa's relationship with Carla Barlow (Alison King). Taking to X/Twitter, one fumed: "I wish Becky would just go away, I much prefer Carla in #Corrie." As a second raged: "No, we don't need to talk Becky. You need to eff off. Pointless storyline."

Another added: "Becky Swain continued to manipulate her family in #Corrie today. Will she ever f*** off back to Spain? Unlikely!"

One echoed: "The sooner Becky goes to Spain the better," As a fifth fan agreed with Roy and stated: "Roys words of wisdom 'Perhaps it's time Becky went back to Spain' Roy you hero."

Meanwhile, another viewer anticipated: "So Becky is using Betsy to try and manipulate Lisa into leaving for Spain with them."

During the episode, Becky's ulterior motives were soon uncovered as she tried to convince Betsy to join her in Spain. After suggesting that the youngster should "take a gap year," she then suggested that perhaps Lisa could also join them permanently.

Betsy was left excited by the prospects of moving to Spain. However, it's yet to be seen how Lisa will find out and what her reaction will be to Becky's desperate plans to get her family back together.

This comes as it was confirmed that there's still plenty of drama ahead, as Corrie boss Kate Brooks confirmed that Becky is the villain of the story, and that she wants her family back.

The producer told press: "Who is Becky? Where did we find her? So, Becky is, I'm not going to pull any punches, is a bit of a villain. She's come back, she knows what she wants, she wants her family back. She wants Becky and Lisa back and to oust Carla from this very happy home life that she's created.

"So we are watching this story develop, and slowly, we'll start to peel away the layers of Becky and who she is, and what she's actually capable of.

"At the minute on-screen, we've only just scratched the surface but she is capable of many things and the thing that she's capable of doing the best is reminding Lisa of the life they had."
